Ageing and Physical Function

What we do?

It is increasingly recognised that diabetes and other chronic diseases are characterised by accelerated biological aging, impaired physical function and frailty. Our research investigates which accelerometer measured and self-reported physical activity metrics are most predictive of frailty and premature mortality, and the extent to which physical activity interventions can be used to improve physical function in patient groups that are not currently eligible for referral into rehabilitation pathways, such as type 2 diabetes.
